*The Great Hurricane of 1780 has the highest number of fatalities, over 22,000
*Hurricane Flyod (1999) was probably the largest with a diameter of 580 miles
*Hurricane Wilma (2005) was the most intense storm to make landfall with a pressure of 882 millibar
*Hurricanes Camille (1969) and Allen (1980) had the fastest sustained wind speeds at 190 mph
*The Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 would have an estimated cost in property damage today of anywhere from $87 - $150 billion. Property is much more expensive today than it was in the past and this must be taken into account when estimating how costly hurricanes were. While Katrina has an absolute dollar cost of $81 billion, if the 1926 hurricane were transported to the modern world its damage would be greater.

11 November 1918: after four years and 20 million lives lost the war to end all wars came to an end. Heroes rose and empires fell. In the years ahead wars would arise and heroes would once again be needed to heed the call of duty to protect those who need protection and to stop those who would cause others harm. This is what Veterans Day is about. We honour those who rose to greatness when their country, and the world, needed them.
It is now 90 years to the day since the war to end all wars came to an end. The last of those brave men who served in that struggle for freedom won't be here for much longer, so while I still can I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to you who served. And not only to those who served in the First World War, but in all wars since, and to all those who continue to step up when the world needs them most. Thank you.

The defensive force of one city engages the attacking force of another city, leading to stailmate.
The defending city sends out distress messages to neighboring cities, which send their defensive forces to engage the attacking force, defeating them.
The attacking force can choose peace of defeat.
